Wig 101
How to Choose Your First Wig
Your first wig shouldn't feel like a costume. Here's how to pick a piece that disappears into you — in five honest decisions.

Start with why
Before cap construction or density, get clear on why you're wearing. Medical hair loss, thinning edges, a protective style, or pure vanity each point to a different piece. The 'why' decides glueless vs. lace-front, daily vs. occasional, and how much hand-holding you'll want from a stylist.
Pick a glueless cap first
If this is your first piece, choose glueless. No adhesives, no waiting for the bond to set, no special remover at the end of the day. A glueless cap with an adjustable band sits secure enough for most of life and lets you learn how a wig feels before you commit to anything stronger.
Match shade to your skin, not your old hair
The shade that reads natural is the one that flatters your complexion, not necessarily the color you were born with. When in doubt, go one shade warmer than you think. A stylist can confirm from a natural-light photo.
Don't max out the density
Beginners often assume more hair = more natural. It doesn't. A Natural density (130–150%) moves like real hair and is far easier to blend. Glam density (180%+) photographs beautifully but is loud in real life and harder for a first-timer to wear confidently.
